It welcomes visitors to its grounds at any time and in the monastery itself most afternoons. It is a fascinating place to visit, and a beautiful setting for a leisurely stroll. Be sure to take the 5 minute walk to the viewpoint where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Fraser River Valley. Originally the sites of St. Mary's Mission, its grounds are the perfect place for kite flying, picnicking or touring the foundations of the old Mission. Through various permanent and rotating exhibits learn of Canada's first train robbery, the first bridge across the Fraser River and the brave pioneers that settled the area. * Mission Raceway Park: Mission Raceway is renowned for being one of the fastest and smoothest dragstrips on the west coast of North America. It's dragstrip, road course, and motocross run from March to October. The prestigious Divisional Championships event in early May attracts 400+ of the best cars and drivers across North America, much to the delight of the thousands of spectators from the USA and Canada. * Mission Firefighters Museum: The museum is housed within the 18,000 square foot Mission Fire Hall Headquarters building, which opened in 1999. Their display features a 1954 GMC Fire Truck, which has been completely restored. There is memorabilia covering the 75 year history of the Mission Firefighters, as well as an historical scrapbook dating from 1927. Visitors are welcome to drop in. Tours by appointment only. Museum hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. * Mission Farmers Market: Looking for a great way to spend Saturday morning? Visit the Mission City Farmers Market for local produce, poultry, baked goods and assorted crafts. Open late spring to October in the parking lot behind Pharmasave, downtown Mission. * Inch Creek Fish Hatchery: Visit Henry, the 7 ½ foot sturgeon and through fascinating displays learn about the maintenance of West Coast fisheries. * Sun Valley Trout Park and Trout Creek Farm: Spend a relaxing afternoon at either of these U-catch fish farms. Both boast large ponds well stocked with trout measuring 11-inch and up. No licenses, experience or tackle required! Make it a family outing! Camping available at Sun Valley Tout Park.
